Private Pilot
(PPL)

you don't study to pass an exam - you study for the decisions you bet your life on

Whether you plan to progress to a commercial license or simply fly recreationally, ensure that you have a strong theoretical foundation on which to base your decisions - a pilot with low flying hours, is best protected by a high theoretical knowledge.

The SACAA PPL syllabus requires that the applicant for the license successfully pass eight theoretical examinations as detailed in the law, reference SA-CAR 61.01.3(f). These are to be completed within an 18 month period from the date of the first exam passed. The exams can be written at any stage and in any order during the course of your training*, once your Student Pilot License (SPL) has been obtained from the SACAA.

Some flight schools have a preference, please check with your instructor!
